Born and raised in Taiwan, Angus Yeh has spent the past two years living in Vancouver where he studied New Media Design and Web Development at British Columbia’s Institute of Technology (BCIT) before joining 14 Oranges as a web developer.
During his time at BCIT, he learned a broad range of skills, however, he primarily focused on web development and quickly discovered a new passion. In fact, unlike many web developers who are self-taught, Angus discovered his passion for web development when he was 29 years old and since then hasn’t looked back.
Today he helps develop websites and apps for a variety of clients, including government agencies, museums, galleries and unions, and associations.
“I was really lucky to be hired by 14 Oranges because I had no prior web development experience before going to BCIT, but I worked really hard at school and I think they saw that,” said Angus, who will soon be a permanent resident in Canada.
Prior to moving to Canada, Angus studied chemistry in Taiwan and worked for Asus, one of the largest computer and electronic manufacturers in the world. At Asus, he worked as a project manager, however, it was his exposure to the technical teams that piqued his interest in web development.
“I really liked the idea of being able to sit down and just focus on a project. It’s really up to you as the web developer to get the job done and you get to see the end result. It’s beautiful.”
Outside of work, Angus enjoys playing pool with friends as well as tennis with his wife. He also recently started to work out. When he’s not behind the computer he loves to visit one of his favourite Italian restaurants and always makes sure to order gelato at the end of the meal.
Sylvain Marcotte is CEO and President of 14 Oranges.
